Brain Based Therapies – Brain Training Therapy

Brain based treatments improve issues that cannot be helped through traditional talk or behavioural therapies, such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries.

For all ages we offer:

Direct Neurofeedback

It’s a simple and highly effective form of neurofeedback. Direct Neurofeedback is a technology that provides the brain with direct, real-time feedback on how well it is working. The feedback is sent in the form of an ultra-low voltage signal that goes directly to the brain to stimulate frozen neural pathways and cue the brain to reorganize it brainwaves self for optimal functioning. While neurofeedback doesn’t cure the illness, it can considerably reduce the physical stress reactions associated to the issue.

The effects are immediate and they can last anywhere between 30 minutes and 36 hours. After each session the lasting effect prolongs. Initially clients may attend twice a week until eventually sessions may only be needed once month or every 6 weeks for maintenance. Most clients need an average of 20 sessions to see enduring results.

Safe and Sound Protocol

This is a 5 hour listening intervention extensively researched and designed by Dr. Stephen Porges to help calm the vagus nerve. The treatment consists on having the client listen to specially treated music to exercise muscles in the middle ear.

This reduces stress and auditory hypersensitivities to aid in the treatment of mental health and developmental issues. This is a passive way of helping emotional regulation and social engagement in people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorder and Misophonia.

It shows positive results in:

  • Inattention
  • Auditory sensitivities
  • Social-Emotional difficulties
  • Anxiety and trauma related issues

Traditional Neurofeedback

Service available starting Dec. 2020.

This is a EEG form of biofeedback. It allows the clinician to gather information about the brain activity that is the root cause of the symptoms.

We are now able to create a full brain map: which areas are communicating well, which need to be activated, which brainwaves are interfering, and much more.

The clinician can then identify the brain behaviour that needs to be retrained to allow the brain to heal.
