Reduced Wait Times
Most clients wait for 6-18 months for a psychiatric consult. Because we are collaborative partners, and through our Virtual Clinic your wait is significantly reduced to 6 to 8 weeks, with the added convenience meeting via your therapist’s office or from your home.
Please let your therapist know your interest in working alongside a psychiatrist. Consultations can be booked after your second psychotherapy session. You will get a referral form to give to your family doctor.
You can search for a therapist that collaborates with psychiatrist
The consultations take place with both the therapist and the psychiatrist. The doctor’s time is covered by OHIP. However since the therapist’s time is not covered by OHIP regular fees will apply. Initial assessments are 90 minutes long, follow ups are 20 minutes long.
The first consultation is 90 minutes long, after that the doctor will make recommendations for follow ups depending on your situation. Follow ups are 20 minutes long so they can take place during a regular psychotherapy session.
