Sobia Mahmood is a Registered Psychotherapist at The Insight Clinic who currently provides therapy for women and children. She brings a compassionate, client-centred, and integrative approach to helping clients feel understood, supported, and empowered as they work through emotional, behavioural, and life challenges.
Sobia supports women experiencing anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, low self-esteem, trauma, grief, relationship stress, domestic violence, narcissistic abuse, and life transitions. She provides a safe and validating space where women can build emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, develop self-compassion, and move toward the life they want.
Sobia also works with children who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, abuse, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, behavioural concerns, communication challenges, self-esteem issues, and social or family-related stress. She uses child-centred, play-based, and creative therapy strategies to help children express themselves, understand their emotions, build confidence, and develop healthier coping tools.
Her approach includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, client-centred therapy, strength-based therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies. With children, she also uses child-centred play therapy to make therapy engaging, supportive, and developmentally appropriate.
Clients often describe Sobia as compassionate, warm, and gently challenging. She helps clients feel safe while encouraging them to reflect, grow, and move toward meaningful change. Sobia believes therapy works best when clients feel respected, emotionally supported, and able to progress at their own pace.
Sobia brings a South Asian and Muslim cultural background to her work and offers therapy in English, Urdu, and Hindi. She also brings experience working in non-profit settings and has supported clients through emotional, psychological, and life challenges across different environments.
For Sobia, client success means seeing women and children move closer to the life they want. This may include improved emotional regulation, greater self-understanding, stronger self-compassion, increased confidence, healthier coping skills, and meaningful progress, even when that progress happens slowly.
Outside of work, Sobia enjoys art, photography, crafts, volleyball, and reading. She continues to grow professionally through further training in child therapy and is also interested in adding EMDR and eating disorder training in the future.
