Common Reasons Families Explore Neurofeedback

School or work

Trouble sustaining attention, incomplete work, underperformance relative to ability, disorganization, procrastination, and time-management struggles.

Relationships & emotional wellbeing

Impulsive reactions, difficulty following through, frustration, anxiety, shame, and tension around not being able to focus.

Sleeping difficulties

Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, and waking up tired.

What Neurofeedback Is

What it is:

A form of biofeedback that measures your own brainwave (EEG) activity in real time and feeds it back to you – often as a simple video, sound, or game cue – so you can learn, through practice, to shift patterns of brain activity associated with attention and regulation.

What it is not:

Not a device that “rewires the brain” permanently, not a replacement for medication or therapy when those are clinically indicated, and not a guaranteed treatment for every condition it’s been studied for. Different neurofeedback approaches are not interchangeable – evidence quality differs between them.

How it works:

Sensors on the scalp measure electrical brain activity. Software translates specific patterns into real-time feedback. Over repeated sessions, some people learn to reliably produce target patterns, with observed changes in attention or regulation in some, but not all, studies.

What you’ll experience:

Calm, screen-based sessions, often resembling watching a video or playing a simple game. No electrical stimulation – the process only reads brain activity.

The evidence is genuinely mixed not settled

neuro feedback is supported by some research but result vary

we present science directly above not minimized

Time and cost commitment

a meaningful trial typically requires multiple sessions
before responsiveness can be assessed [CONFIRM TYPICAL NUMBER NEEDED]

Not a substitute for established first-line treatment

Where effective first-line treatments exist, they should be tried first.

Neurofeedback may be considered when it’s a better fit or as an additional option.

The evidence is genuinely mixed. Studies using standard protocols and parent ratings often show benefit; studies using blinded or teacher-rated outcomes mostly show little to no significant effect. We present this honestly rather than overstating certainty either way.

Most heavily studied for ADHD. Evidence for other applications is more limited and discussed individually at consultation.
Not automatically – whether it’s used alongside, instead of, or independent of medication is an individualized decision.
Generally yes – it only measures activity, with no electrical or magnetic stimulation. Mild fatigue after sessions is occasionally reported.
No. Outcomes vary, and no ethical provider can guarantee results given the current state of evidence.
[CONFIRM AGE RANGE]
[CONFIRM DETAILS]
We review progress using consistent measures at defined intervals and will tell you directly if response isn’t being seen, along with alternative recommendations.
Yes, when appropriate – but it’s not required, and can be delivered as a standalone service.
Much of the public conversation cites studies using unblinded, parent-rated outcomes, which tend to show larger effects than blinded or teacher-rated outcomes. We aim to represent both sides honestly.
