Kathleen O’Connor is a dedicated specialist teacher with nearly twenty years of experience supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, as well as students with diverse learning needs. She is known for her warmth, patience, and commitment to creating inclusive classrooms where every student feels welcomed and valued.
Kathleen holds a Master of Applied Disability Studies from Brock University and a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University. She is certified in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, special education, and is pursuing her Principal’s qualifications, showcasing her dedication to lifelong learning and leadership in education.
Her expertise lies in designing personalized education plans that support the use of hearing assistive technologies, language development, literacy skills, and self-advocacy. Kathleen works closely with families, educators, and support staff to ensure students receive the tailored support they need to thrive academically and socially.
Passionate about student engagement and confidence-building, Kathleen integrates empathy and cultural awareness into her teaching practice. She also mentors educators and leads community events focused on equity and inclusion, helping to raise awareness about the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and advocating for accessible education.
