About Micaela Totino Reg. BCBA and RBA

Micaela Totino is a Senior Therapist at The Insight Clinic who provides evidence-based ABA therapy and behavioural support for children, youth, and families. She has worked across a variety of clinical and community settings, supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), developmental exceptionalities, communication challenges, emotional and behavioural regulation difficulties, adaptive skill needs, and behaviours that interfere with daily life. Micaela is passionate about helping each learner build meaningful skills that improve independence, confidence, and quality of life.

Micaela’s work focuses on individualized ABA programs that support the development of communication skills, daily living skills, play skills, social skills, academic readiness, emotional regulation, and functional independence. She collaborates closely with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure progress in therapy translates into real-life success at home, school, and in the community. She is especially energized by working with children and adolescents and by supporting families through meaningful changes that have a direct impact on everyday functioning.

Her approach is grounded in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), behavioural science, and evidence-based practice. Micaela uses individualized teaching strategies, skill-building programs, behavioural assessment, caregiver collaboration, and practical intervention planning to support each learner’s growth. What makes her approach unique is her strong focus on the whole support system. She believes that for a learner to thrive, families and caregivers must also feel empowered, informed, and supported. She places strong value on parent coaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, assent-based care, and trauma-informed ABA practices.

Micaela brings a strong academic and clinical background to her work. She earned a Master of Arts in Applied Disability Studies with a specialization in Applied Behaviour Analysis from Brock University, along with additional training in Behavioural Science, Forensic Practice, crisis intervention, and self-regulation approaches. She has contributed to research in forensic psychiatry at CAMH and has co-authored peer-reviewed research on pediatric feeding disorders and functional analysis in mealtime behaviour. Her background allows her to translate clinical data into clear, practical, and family-friendly strategies that work in everyday routines.

For Micaela, success means seeing therapy goals become meaningful wins in daily life, whether that is a successful mealtime, a child communicating a need more independently, stronger emotional regulation, or the development of friendships and life skills. She is committed to creating compassionate, neurodiversity-respecting, evidence-informed ABA therapy that supports both the learner and the family. As she continues to grow professionally, Micaela is deepening her expertise in assent-based care, trauma-informed ABA, self-advocacy goals, and family-centred behavioural support.
