Lisa Bynoe-Stevens is a Registered Psychotherapist at The Insight Clinic who brings warmth, energy, compassion, and many years of experience to her work with clients. Lisa describes her role as being like a DJ, helping clients “change the music” in their lives so they can move through life with more ease, clarity, and confidence.
Lisa supports individuals, couples, families, children, youth, and adults with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, relationship conflict, communication challenges, workplace stress, past trauma, grief, bullying, harassment, and racism-related experiences. She also has a special interest in supporting people under 25, couples seeking relationship enrichment at any stage, athletes, and individuals connected to the performing arts or visual arts.
Lisa uses an integrative approach that may include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Internal Family Systems-informed work, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Gottman-informed couples therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, self-compassion work, somatic approaches, Play Therapy, and Art Therapy. In simple terms, Lisa helps clients pause, reflect, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and build practical tools for change.
Clients and colleagues often describe Lisa as kind, warm, bubbly, and deeply caring. Her approach is supportive, honest, and non-judgmental. Lisa believes clients should feel safe enough to say anything, knowing they will be met with compassion and helped through it. She is especially skilled at helping people navigate difficult emotions, strengthen communication, rebuild connection, and move through life transitions with more confidence.
Lisa brings a rich cultural and professional background to her work. She was born in Barbados, has spent much of her life in North America, and communicates in English. She has been involved in the helping profession since her teen years and has worked with children, youth, adults, and couples throughout her career. Lisa has also been supporting couples in therapy since beginning private practice in 2007.
For Lisa, client success means seeing people apply what they discover in therapy to their real lives. Success may look like improved communication, healthier coping strategies, stronger boundaries, more self-understanding, or a client feeling ready to pause therapy while knowing they can return when support is needed.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys travelling, gardening, reading, spending time with family and friends, and engaging with the arts. She has travelled to more than 30 countries and enjoys books, movies, and shows in the detective, mystery, historical, and crime genres.
Struggling with Relationship Issues, Betrayal, or Loss? You’re Not Alone.
Relationships—whether personal or professional—can be complex, especially when trust is broken, conflicts arise, or past wounds resurface.
Lisa Bynoe-Stevens, a compassionate therapist, specializes in helping individuals and couples navigate post-affair recovery, manage personality-related challenges, and heal from grief and loss.
Lisa provides a safe, non-judgmental space where individuals and couples can explore their challenges and work toward emotional healing.
Infidelity can leave deep emotional wounds, causing anger, pain, and uncertainty about the future of a relationship. Whether you’re the betrayed partner or the one who strayed, Lisa helps couples:
Example: You’ve discovered a betrayal and feel emotionally shattered. Through therapy, you gain clarity, emotional resilience, and a path forward—whether in healing or closure.
Lisa provides compassionate guidance for both partners, helping them understand each other’s emotions and work toward reconciliation or resolution.
Loss—whether of a loved one, a relationship, or a major life role—can feel isolating. Lisa offers grief counseling to help individuals:
Example: You’ve lost someone close to you and feel stuck in sorrow. Therapy helps you honor your grief while finding a way to move forward with hope.
Being in a relationship—romantic, familial, or professional—with someone who has Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) or Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) can be overwhelming. Lisa helps individuals:
Example: You feel emotionally drained dealing with someone who has extreme mood swings, manipulative behaviors, or controlling tendencies.
Therapy helps you regain emotional balance, set boundaries, and navigate these relationships with strength.
